Automobile insurance is a very good thing to have. Currently my family uses Progressive automobile insurance. I have used Farmer's automobile insurance, Allstate automobile insurance, Geico automobile insurance, I believe these are the only companies that I have used for my automobile insurance needs.
I would suggest that depending upon your automobile insurance needs you can use higher deductibles to lower your monthy cost. You may want to start a savings plan to cover this deductible just in case you do have an accident though. My family uses a higher deductible, we also have the deductible to cover the "just in case".
If you are new to looking for automobile insurance I would suggest shopping around. Progressive automobile insurance company can help out with this. I can remember one time a progressive automobile insurance agent sent me down the road to an Allstate automobile insurance agent, just to get a better deal. How often does this happen? With any luck you won't need the automobile insurance, but just in case, it is a good thing to have.
